Concussion Care

Concussions are head injuries that deserve specialized care from an experienced physician. Dr. Maneen is fellowship trained in sports medicine, specializing in concussions and other non-surgical orthopedic injuries. He has experience with athletes at school aged, collegiate, semi-professional, and professional levels, and he treats concussions in all age groups. Concussions are not seen on imaging like X-ray, MRI, or CT scans, but they can be diagnosed with a detailed cognitive and physical exam by a trained doctor. Please schedule an appointment today if you or your loved one may have suffered a head injury or concussion.

Second impact syndrome, or SIS, happens when the brain swells rapidly shortly after a person suffers a second concussion before symptoms from an earlier concussion have subsided. This event is rare, but when it does happen, it is most often fatal. You should always be cleared by a physician who specializes in concussions before returning back to activity.
